Air Quality Generally Good, Though Wildfire Smoke Is Back

Wildfire smoke has been in the air and in the news, and an Environmental Protection Agency monitor shows Monday air quality in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area is at the mid-level of the "being unhealthy for sensitive groups" category, impacting those with heart or lung disease.

For those groups, the Douglas County Health Department recommends:

  • Choose less strenuous activities (like walking instead of running) so you don’t breathe as hard.
  • Shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.
  • Be active outdoors when air quality is better.
