(Omaha, NE) -- A popular Omaha lake and recreation area announces a reopening date.
Lake Cunningham Development Trust says the park will debut $23 million in improvements to the community at noon on Thursday, August 5th. They say there will be a small celebration for the park from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the lighthouse, located in the marina area of the park. People are encouraged to park in the parking lot at Entrance #1 (8965 State St, Omaha, NE 68122) and walk to the marina area. The opening celebration will include food trucks, community partners, DJ, activities and giveaways. “We are so excited for the community to come and enjoy the lake and recreation area again.”, Says Brook Bench, Executive Director of the Lake Cunningham Development Trust. “We hope that people are pleased with the efforts of this project and its renovations. Our staff will continue to pursue the best ways we can serve park-goers and enhance the park experience for all.”
Beginning Monday, July 26th, Lake Cunningham is accepting online booking for campground reservations for dates beginning Thursday, August 5th. Reservations can be made on Lake Cunningham’s website. The “East C Campground” has 42 new campground stalls complete with water, power and sanitary at each pad as well as a new bathhouse facility. In addition, the “West C Campground” has 41 upgraded camping stalls are in the existing campground with upgrades to the current bathhouse and advances to the electrical. There are 17 tent camping spots. New grills and firepits will accompany all of the campground stalls. Cunningham campers will also have the opportunity to experience kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals and classes through Neighborhood Offshore, by booking online.
Lake Cunningham’s staff will also be offering voluntary boat cleaning services beginning when the park opens, August 5th at 12pm. The boat wash station will be located at Entrance #1 (marina) during the following specified dates and times:
- Thursday, August 5th: 12pm - 8:30pm
- Friday, August 6th: 10am - 4pm
- Saturday, August 7th: 8am – 2pm
- Sunday, August 8th: 8am - 2pm
The public boat ramp will be open for use during park hours from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. All visitors are welcome to the complimentary service.
