The Nebraska State Patrol finds a third vehicle, a Ford Escape, that was at the intersection of Highways 77 and 109 in Saunders County at the time of the crash that claimed three lives Tuesday evening.
Following interviews, investigators believe the eastbound Escape had not stopped at the intersection, but had slowed down after noticing a southbound Pontiac Grand Am go into the intersection from Highway 109 after stopping before red flashing lights and a stop sign.
Traffic on U.S. Highway 77 does not stop.
The Escape avoided a collision, but another eastbound vehicle in the right lane collided with the Grand Am.
Those in the Grand Am, 18-year old Monica Chohon and her younger brothers, James and Andrew, were killed.
The Patrol says the driver of the Escape noticed several witnesses stop to assist and made sure 9-1-1 had been called before departing the crash scene.
The investigation continues.
