Another major sporting event good for economic development gets underway in Omaha this week: The U-S Senior Open Golf Championship at the Omaha Country Club.
It's the second time Omaha has hosted the event, one of seven places to make that claim.
The practice rounds are underway, and the first of three rounds begins Thursday with a champion scheduled to be crowned in the final round on Sunday.
Omaha Country Club also hosted in 2013 when Kenny Perry won, and Perry is competing again this year.
Last year's event was canceled because of coronavirus.
