Vanderbilt is just one win away from its second consecutive College World Series Championship.
The Commodores plated seven runs in the first inning as they defeated Mississippi State 8 - 2 Monday night in Game One of the best-of -three National Championship Series at "TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.".
Game Two is Tuesday evening at 6:00 and will be televised on ESPN.
Of course, there is plenty of hope for the Bulldogs of MSU: NCAA.COM points out four of the past five Game One losers ended up celebrating a National Championship.
One of the losing teams in those years was Vanderbilt against Virginia in 2015.
Mississippi St. now will be trying to force a Wednesday evening, winner-take-all Game Three.
