One person injured in Monday afternoon stabbing

(Omaha, NE) -- One person is injured in a stabbing at an Omaha homeless shelter.

The Omaha Police Department says officers were called to the Siena Francis House near 18th and Nicholas just before 1:30 Monday afternoon for a report of a cutting. Investigators say once on the scene, officers spoke with 23 year old Darius Jimerson who was suffering from several stab wounds.

Police say Jimerson told officers that he had gotten into a physical altercation with another man, who pulled out a knife and stabbed him. Jimerson was taken to Nebraska Medicine with non-life threatening injuries.
