Big Sign Of More Normality: June, Omaha, And The College World Series

The teams have met the national and local media and have been practicing at Omaha Metro area diamonds;

KFAB's own Bill Jensen will be behind the Public Address microphone, and the ESPN cameras are in place as the 2021 College World Series begins this weekend at "TD Ameritrade Park Omaha."

The CWS to decide the NCAA Baseball National Championship, shut down last year because of the pandemic, has been played in Omaha every year since 1950.

Each year at Rosenblatt Stadium, the tournament would increase in popularity through local support until an explosion of national interest when ESPN began televising the event in the early 1980's.

That all paved the way for a new, larger ballpark built for the Series in the North Downtown area of Omaha.

Here is the schedule for this weekend:

On Saturday, in Game One, Stanford takes on North Carolina State at one p.m.; at six, it'll be Vanderbilt against Arizona.

On Sunday, Game Three: Tennessee versus Virginia at one p.m.; the Sunday nightcap is Texas and Mississippi St. at six p.m.
