(Council Bluffs, IA) -- Investigators say 28-year old Lindsy Maves has been arrested and is in the Pottawattamie County Jail for attempted murder and first-degree arson.

Council Bluffs Police say just after 4:30 Monday morning, officers were called to the area of 15th and Avenue N to investigate a woman found outside with severe burns on her body.

CBPD says officers, along with medics from the Council Bluffs Fire Department, arrived on scene and the victim, 37 year old Christine Weilage, was taken to Nebraska Medicine. Investigators say officers determined the original incident occurred about four blocks away, near 15th and Avenue K.

Police say, at this time, the investigation shows Weilage was involved in a disturbance with Maves.

Investigators say during the disturbance, Maves reportedly sprayed a flammable substance on Weilage and then lit her on fire.

Investigators say a witness tried to put the fire out and while doing so, Maves again attacked Weilage by hitting her in the face with an unknown object.

Police say Christine Weilage has been transferred to the burn unit at St. Elizabeth's in Lincoln.

The investigation is ongoing by the Criminal Investigation Division.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact this Division at 712-328-4728 or they may call Crime Stoppers at 712-328-7867.
