Work on 44th Street this week means drivers will need to use a different route to reach the "Nebraska Medicine" emergency room in Omaha at 4350 Dewey Ave.
Beginning at Farnam Street, 44th Street will be closed to all traffic, including emergency vehicles, from the afternoon of Tuesday, May 4th to the afternoon of Friday, May 7th.
The emergency room will remain open.
Access will still be available to the emergency room via the entrance on Dewey.
Numerous electronic billboards will be in place on campus prior to and throughout the project alerting drivers to the closure and directing them toward the alternate entrance route.
The signs will be visible on all routes leading to the emergency room, funneling traffic from Emile Street to 45th Street, and finally to Dewey Avenue.
This route will be the only way to access the emergency room during the three-day closure.
