Longtime Omaha Westside Diamond Coach To Be Honored

The school will honor longtime Varsity Baseball Coach Bob Greco on Monday, May 3rd at that evening’s baseball game with a reception to follow.

Greco, one of the most successful Spring and Summer Legion coaches in Nebraska history, announced his retirement before COVID-19 shut down interscholastic sports and extracurriculars a year ago.

“This tribute is long overdue for a man who has impacted thousands of lives, my own included,” said event organizer and Westside Hall of Fame inductee DJ Rezac. “He is a shining example of what hard work can accomplish. His love for baseball is only matched by the love for his family. He taught us and countless others that the journey is better than the destination, and that memories made will long outlast any wins and losses on the field.”

Greco will throw out the first pitch of the Warriors-Papillion-La Vista game at Westside, which will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Greco and his family will be honored before the ballgame.

A reception is scheduled for immediately after at the Westside Alumni House parking lot, located just north of diamond.
