Grand Jury To Investigate Nebraska Inmate Death

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reports the death of 64-year-old Patrick Russell at a Lincoln hospital Sunday morning.

Russell was serving a 110-to-126-year sentence at the Lincoln Correctional Center for a first-degree murder conviction in the death of a child out of Douglas County from the 1970's.

Corrections says Russell was being treated for a medical condition not related to COVID-19.

Nebraska law mandates a grand jury investigation when someone dies in custody or while being taken into custody.
