The Thursday afternoon fire was in a vacant, wood framed funeral home northeast of 24th and J Streets, and it took about 50 minutes to bring under control.
First arriving firefighters found a large amount of smoke coming from the building when they pulled up.
Witnesses indicate the building is a known hang out for kids and homeless and was the scene of a previous fire.
