Valparaiso librarian accused of buying personal items with library funds

(Valparaiso, NE) -- A Valparaiso librarian is arrested after being accused of misusing the library's Amazon account.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the arrest of 47 year old Lori Springer comes following an investigation that was launched earlier this year. The NSP says the investigation began in February, when the case was referred to them by the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office. The state patrol says investigators developed information that Springer, who served as Librarian for the Village of Valparaiso Library, had purchased personal items for her family using the library’s Amazon account.

On Thursday, investigators served search warrants as part of this investigation and located the items, which they say included electronics and textbooks. Springer was arrested for theft by unlawful taking, unlawful acts – depriving or obtaining property or services, and official misconduct.
