Former Husker found not guilty of sexual assault

(Lincoln, NE) -- A former Husker football player is found not guilty of sexual assault.

Thursday morning, a Lancaster County jury found 21 year old Katerian LeGrone not guilty of first degree sexual assault. LeGrone was being charged with sexual assault stemming from an incident on August 25, 2019. At that time, a 19 year old UNL student claimed that LeGrone, and another teammate Andre Hunt, both raped her at their apartment.

Prosecutors alleged that the woman was in Hunt's bedroom and felt forced into having sex with him. They say while Hunt and the woman were having sex, LeGrone came into the room and switched with Hunt, without the woman knowing. LeGrone's lawyers say that the woman saw LeGrone at the door, and did or said nothing to show that she didn't consent to what was going on.

Hunt testified in LeGrone's trial as part of a plea deal. Both men were suspended and dismissed from the Husker football team shortly after the incident.
