(Lincoln, NE) -- Police in Lincoln identify the victim and suspect in a fatal weekend shooting.
During a Monday morning press briefing, acting Police Chief Brian Jackson said that 52 year old Timothy McPeak has been arrested for the shooting death of 76 year old Luis Noguera.
Investigators say just before 8:30 Saturday night, officers were called to an apartment building near 10th and E streets fora report of a disturbance, possibly involving a weapon. Once on the scene, officers located Noguera dead in a hallway, with injuries to his head.
LPD says investigators conducted interviews and determined that McPeak had been engaged in an argument that turned physical prior to officers finding Noguera dead. Noguera and McPeak were both residents in the apartment building.
McPeak is facing charges of 2nd Degree Murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. The investigation is ongoing.
Noguera's death is Lincoln's second homicide of 2021.
