State troopers seize 770 pounds of pot in I-80 traffic stop

(Seward, NE) -- Two California men are behind bars in Nebraska after the Nebraska State Patrol says they found hundreds of pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.

The State Patrol says just before 4:00 Wednesday afternoon, a trooper spotted a cargo van speeding and failing to signal on eastbound Interstate 80, near Seward. NSP says the trooper pulled the van over, and during the stop smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the van.

Investigators say during a search, 770 pounds of marijuana were located in the cargo area of the van. They say the 29 year old driver, Javier Hernandez-Romano, and 21 year old passenger, Gustavo Perez Heuerta, both of Redwood Valley, California, were arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
