Day Two Of OPPD "Rolling Blackouts"

More "rolling blackouts" in the Omaha Public Power District service area were carried out Tuesday morning and remain a possibility because of the extreme winter weather across the Plains.

District C-E-O Tim Burke says the outages are to take pressure off the "Southwest Power Pool," a regional power co-op to which OPPD belongs.

Such service interruptions started Monday in the Bellevue area, and the intentional shutdowns can come with very little warning.

They generally last for an hour.

OPPD, Metropolitan Utilities District and other utilities continue to call for conservation efforts during this cold snap.
