Missouri River Levee To Get An Upgrade

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, and the City of Hamburg sign an agreement that will allow for raising the "Hamburg Ditch 6" levee eight feet, which the Corps says significantly increases the Missouri River flood protection the levee provides to that community in Fremont County, Iowa.

The money is in the Corps' 2021 civil works, work plan, which provides funding for the Corps to address water resource issues across the nation.

These work plans include approximately $54 million for the repair of several navigation structures along the Missouri River from Sioux City to St. Louis that were damaged from high water and massive flooding over the past three years.
