Cause of death announced for missing Cass County woman

(Otoe County, NE) -- The cause of death of a former Omaha mayor's daughter has been released.

On Monday, the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office released the autopsy results for 48 year old Amber Tjaden, the daughter of former Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle. Tjaden, of Weeping Water, was reported missing January 27th and was found near her vehicle on a rural Otoe County road on February 5th.

Investigators say preliminary autopsy reports indicate that Tjaden died of cold exposure and that foul play is not suspected.

Otoe County deputies were called to a minimum maintenance county road, approximately six miles north of Unadilla, after a citizen a had reported seeing a vehicle matching Tjaden’s parked on the side of the road. Responding deputies located Tjaden outside, near her vehicle. An on-scene investigation was conducted by the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol.

The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation.
