Snow, high winds, and bitter cold in Omaha today into the weekend

National Weather Service

(Omaha, NE) -- We get another winter blast in the Omaha area, after rain has turned to snow, and now the wind will kick up.

The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley says there'll be gusty winds, 30 to 45 miles an hour.

Snow totals should be less than two inches in Omaha, but the high winds will create some blizzard-like conditions in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.

Temperatures will drop as the snow storm goes through, and will hit their lowest Monday into Tuesday with wind chills of -10 to -20.

Much of the Midwest and Northern Plains will get the cold snap, with Des Moines, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Chicago, Illinois expecting wind chills of -25 to -30.
