Early Voting Applications For City Of Omaha Elections Are Going Out

The Douglas County Election Commission says early voting ballot applications for the 2021 Primary and General Elections are being mailed to voters.

Recipients are registered voters within the City of Omaha boundaries, who signed up to be on the Douglas County Early Voting Request List.

The Commission says the postcard-size mail pieces are printed on green cardstock.

Voters must complete and sign the application portion of the mailing and return it to the Election Commission to receive a ballot by mail.

Ballots will not be automatically sent to voters who receive the postcard mailing, or who requested a by-mail ballot for previous elections.

Applications may be returned via official ballot drop box, postal mail, email, or fax.

For voter convenience, all Douglas County Election Commission ballot drop boxes are open; a list of locations is available at www.votedouglascounty.com

Drop boxes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are accessible even if the hosting organization is closed to the public.

No postage is needed on items deposited into Election Commission drop boxes.

Election materials should only be deposited into official ballot drop boxes to ensure they are received by the Commission.

“Voters on the Early Voting Request List should expect to receive their cards by early February,” explained Brian Kruse, Douglas County Election Commissioner. “This card assists my office in processing applications for by-mail ballots more efficiently, and we appreciate voters using the card and returning it to a ballot drop box when possible,” added Kruse.

Voters who do not receive an early voting application postcard may request by-mail ballots by submitting a request in writing, accompanied by their signature.

At the same time they request their ballot, voters may sign up to be included on the Early Voting Request List for future elections.

Details may be found on www.votedouglascounty.com or by calling (402) 444-VOTE. Ballot requests may not be accepted via telephone.

The first day ballots will be mailed is Monday, March 22, 2021. The deadline to submit a request for an early voting ballot to be mailed for the Primary Election is Friday, March 26, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
