The next phase of COVID-19 vaccinations is being expanded in Douglas County. Originally, the Douglas County Health Department had people 75 and older being vaccinated in Phase 1B, but have now expanded it to those that are 65 and older
On Wednesday, the Douglas County Health Department laid out the following timeline for vaccine roll out:
- Phase 1-A continues through January. The focus is healthcare workers and long‐term care residents and staff, vaccinators, home healthcare, behavioral health and dentists.
- Phase 1-B begins in late January or early February with and has recently expanded to people aged 65-plus, then first responders, front line workers who can’t work from home or social distance at work, and educators. That is expected to continue through March and other groups may be added to this phase.
Weekday updates will be provided to agencies serving the 75-plus population. The health department says a registration system is under development and will be unveiled soon.
