Three teens busted for burglarizing Lincoln country club

(Lincoln, NE) -- Three teenage boys are in trouble with the law after police say they caused thousands of dollars in damage to a Lincoln country club.

Lincoln Police say around 6:30 Monday morning, officers were called to the Hillcrest Country Club for a reported burglary. LPD says when officers got to the scene, they spoke with the manager who reported that several windows were broken out at the Pro Shop and that he also found a garage door pried open, with one of the beverage carts missing.

Investigators say the manager was able to provide security video that shows three males responsible for entering the building, damaging property, and stealing items including a hand cart, backpacks, gloves, cash, alcohol, and the beverage golf cart. LPD says the estimated loss at this time is over $9,000.

Police say the suspects also disconnected some of the security cameras and other electronic devices. They say the suspects were also responsible for causing over $4,000 in damages to windows, doors, lockers, televisions, computer monitors and tablets.

LPD says officers also saw that lighter fluid had been poured on a desk and several matches had been lit in an attempt to start a fire unsuccessfully. The suspects were also seen leaving with a beverage cart, which was later located in the area of 98th and A Streets near a trail head.

From the surveillance video, officers were able to identify the suspects as 13-year-old, 14-year-old, and 15-year-old boys. They were contacted, interviewed by officers and arrested for Burglary and Criminal Mischief.
