Man killed in Tuesday night wrong way crash

A 38 year old man is dead following a Tuesday night crash in rural Douglas County.

The Douglas County sheriff's Office says just before 11:00 Tuesday night, deputies were called to the scene of an accident near 323rd and Reichmuth Road. DCSO says a preliminary investigation showed that a Ford F150 pickup, driven by 39 year old George Plofkin, was northbound when it crossed the center line and entered the southbound traffic lane.

Investigators say the pickup then struck a southbound Mazda 6 sedan, driven by 38 year old Timothy Compton. The sheriff's office says the Mazda was then struck by a southbound Nissan Titan pickup, driven by 55 year old Wyatt Rhone, causing the Mazda to roll over. Compton was pronounced dead at the scene. Rhone and his passenger, Reyna Ivy, were transported to Nebraska Medicine with non-life-threatening injuries. Plofkin was transported to Methodist Fremont Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

The DCSO Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to do the investigation and reconstruct the accident. The preliminary investigation shows that drugs/alcohol maybe a contributing factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
