UPDATE: Reward Enhanced for Murder Suspect in Nomi Herrera Case

A warrant for 1st degree murder has been issued for Jaquan Haynes, 18, for the murder of Nomi Herrera that occurred on October 29th 2020 in the area of 33rd and Weber. Tips leading to the arrest of a known homicide suspect are normally eligible for an enhanced reward of $5,000, but the US Marshals have matched the Crime Stoppers reward to up the total reward to $10,000.

Omaha Police say Jaquan Haynes is wanted for the October 29th murder of 19 year old Nomi Herrera. Investigators say Herrera was shot while driving in the area of 33rd and Weber last Thursday. Herrera died the following day.

An Omaha couple is seeking answers after their daughter was shot and killed, while police continue the search for the suspect.

Nomi’s mother Rose lost her own mom to a murder a few years ago and her father to COVID-19 in July.

“They told us they found my daughter at 33rd. She was shot in the back of the head,” Rose said. “Her going braindead and her being gone -- her angel still here but she is no longer with us,” she added.

“I don’t know how I’ll get through without my baby. My baby,” said Rudy Herrera, Nomi's father.

“We want justice for our daughter. This is a senseless act. No teenager should have to worry about driving in this city. It’s not right,” Rudy said.

If you see Mr. Haynes located contact 911 immediately or anonymously at Omaha Crime Stoppers 402-444-STOP (7867), www.omahacrimestoppers.org or at www.p3tips.com.
