Officer-Involved Shooting Leads To Omaha Police Headquarters Protest

Tensions run high outside downtown Omaha Central Police Headquarters at 15th and Howard Streets Friday night during a demonstration over an officer-involved fatal shooting in South Omaha earlier this week.

Some arrests were made;

Police say 35-year old Kenneth Jones died Thursday night after being shot during a struggle with officers during a traffic stop.

One theme during the protest was a call for the body camera footage from the shooting to be quickly made public.

“For some reason, I feel like they edit body cam footage. Body cam don’t show the real deal,” one protester told 6 News.

The Nebraska State Patrol is involved in the investigation of the death, and under state law, there will be a grand jury investigation.
