The Covid-19 Strain On The Metro Homeless

COVID-19 impacts an Omaha emergency shelter.

"Siena Francis House" management says nearly 50 people on their campus north of downtown Omaha have tested positive for coronavirus.

Symptomatic people are under full quarantine and not allowed to leave the facility, while those who leave cannot return to the shelter until after the quarantine has ended.

According to the shelter's website, "Siena Francis House" will not be accepting new guests into emergency shelter, although they will continue to help persons experiencing a housing crisis to identify appropriate shelter options by working with other local service providers.

Francis House management says they are also not currently accepting volunteers onto campus.
