Omaha Public Library to reopen South Omaha branch

The last of Omaha's library branch to reopen will start welcoming guests again after months of being closed down due to the ongoing pandemic.

The Omaha Public Library says the South Omaha branch, near 28th and Q, will reopen at 9:00 on Monday, November 16th.

OPL closed its twelve locations on March 16th in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and remained closed due to City of Omaha budget concerns. Following the approval of CARES Act funding by the state and county, Mayor Jean Stothert announced that libraries could reopen.

The South Omaha branch is the last location to reopen. OPL’s eleven other locations have already opened during a phased reopening plan.

OPL branches are open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 AM -7:00 PM and Friday & Saturday from 9:00 AM -5:00 PM. The Millard, Abrahams and W. Dale Clark branches are offering Sunday hours from 1:00 - 5:00 PM.

Masks are required for all OPL visitors until further notice. Capacity limits are being enforced in accordance with the State of Nebraska’s Directed Health Measures. Complete information is available at omahalibrary.org.
