Truck driver dead after workplace accident at the Heimes Corporation

A trucker is dead following a workplace accident in Sarpy County.

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office says just before 12:00 Monday afternoon, deputies were called to the Heimes Corporation for a reported workplace accident. The Sheriff's Office says at the time of the call, they had been advised that a truck driver had been struck by a truck and had severe injuries. Once deputies were on the scene, they were met by the Omaha Fire Department, who had also been called to the scene. SCSO says the truck driver who was hit was declared dead at the scene.

The SCSO says the initial investigation shows that the deceased driver had been driving a dump truck full of concrete chunks. They say during the dumping process, the driver got out of his truck for an unknown reason, which is when the truck rolled over the driver, killing him.

The driver was an independent contractor and was dumping concrete at the location for recycling purposes.

The investigation is ongoing and the name of the driver won't be released until the next of kin has been notified.
