Ballot counting continues in Sarpy Co. after staff test positive for COVID

The Sarpy County Election Commission is continuing to process ballots from the 2020 General Election, even though the office has been shut down to the public.

The Election commission says out of an abundance of caution, their office is closed to the public after staff members tested positive for COVID-19. The office will reopen to the public in one week. “Though we’re closed to the public, our office continues to process ballots and complete all election related work required by state statute,” said Sarpy County Election Commissioner Michelle Andahl.

“I’d like to offer a very big thank you to everyone in Sarpy County who worked together to make this election a success, from the poll workers and Election Commission employees to the volunteers and every Sarpy County voter,” Andahl added.

There are 1,018 provisional ballots still to be processed. Vote totals will be updated Friday, you can find those results here. Anyone with questions about the election can contact the Sarpy County Election Commission by phone at 402-593-2167.
