Council Bluffs Police phones lines to be down Thursday night

The Council Bluffs Police Department is letting residents know that there is a planned phone outage late Thursday night into Friday morning.

CBPD says that Cox Communications has scheduled a network upgrade overnight from midnight to 5:00 Friday morning. They say the internal and external phone lines to the police department will be down for about an hour during the five-hour maintenance window.

During this time, if residents have an emergency and need police assistance, they will still be able to call 911 and officers will be dispatched through the Pottawattamie County Communications Center. If an attempt to call the police department for a non-emergency reason is unsuccessful, the Communications Center’s non-emergency number can be called at (712) 328-5737 and they will relay the message to police.

CBPD says if phone lines are down for any period of time longer than the five-hour maintenance window, they will update their social media pages with any further information.
