Trump Holds Rally in Omaha

US President Donald Trump held a rally in the Omaha metro tonight at TAC-Air. Several thousand supporters were in attendance. In an aside, President Trump said there were 29,000 in total in attendance.

President Trump's speech covered the COVID-19 pandemic, the recent protests and riots that broke out after the death of George Floyd, and the Trump tax cuts.

At the rally, President Trump gave a shoutout to Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts.

The President praised Governor Ricketts for his work in the state.

In the aftermath of the rally, seven people were hospitalized after waiting several hours in the cold for buses.

Omaha Police dismissed these reports as overblown. Police say many people chose to walk two-and-a-half miles to their cars after the rally, and additional buses were brought in to take others to the parking lots.

Vice President Joe Biden criticized the handling of this at a rally the following day, "Just look at what happened at the Trump rally last night in Omaha. When it ended, hundreds of people, including older Americans and children, were stranded in subzero temperatures for hours."

The National Weather Service's temperature records indicate that the weather at the time was not subzero, but slightly above freezing. It was cold, nonetheless.
