Kleine has come under intense focus from both sides after announcing a charging decision days after the shooting death of 22-year-old James Scurlock during protests and violence in the Old Market this past spring.
Kleine ruled it was self-defense when a business owner fired the fatal shot .
Kleine later called for a Grand Jury investigation which did result in indictments for manslaughter and other charges against Jake Gardner.
The Nebraska Democratic Party reacted to Kleine's original self-defense decision with a formal criticism of the prosecutor's handling of the case, saying it perpetuated white supremacy and divided the community.
Kleine has called that a personal attack.
