According to court records, a 17-year-old identified as a relative of Felipe Vazquez is in custody for possessing or receiving a stolen firearm.
An affidavit this week says the 17-year-old family member admitted to “knowingly and intentionally possessing” the gun used in the crime, which “he knew or believed to be stolen.”
The 17-year old Vazquez is charged with first-degree murder, accused of shooting and killing Lincoln Police Investigator Mario Herrera on August 26th.
The gun found at the scene was reported stolen in July.
The teen relative has been jailed for possessing or receiving a stolen firearm, a Class 2A felony.
His bond set this week at 10 percent of $100,000;
