Alex Gordon to retire from baseball at the end of this season

Former Husker standout and Kansas City Royals left-fielder Alex Gordon is retiring from baseball at the end of this season.

On Thursday, the royals organization announced that the three time All-star would be walking away from the game after fourteen years with the club. Gordon was the second overall pick in the 2005 draft and spent his entire professional career with the Royals.

The 36 year old Lincoln native is also a seven time Golden Glove winner and helped the Royals get a World Series Championship in 2015.
