Omaha Police arrest missing Omaha prison inmate

An inmate reported missing from the Community Corrections Center-Omaha has been located by police.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says Omaha Police took Thomas Craven into custody near 18th and Carter just after 1:00 Monday afternoon. NDCS says Craven had meth on him when he was arrested and will subsequently be charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Craven was reported missing from CCC-O on Sunday after he failed to return to the facility after attending religious services in the community.

Craven started serving a six to seven year sentence in February of 2019. He was imprisoned on charges out of Douglas County that include terroristic threats, second degree assault and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). His tentative release date was September 18, 2021. He has a parole eligibility date of March 27, 2021.

CCC-O is one of two community custody facilities operated by NDCS. Community custody is the lowest custody level and the least restrictive facility. Inmates are allowed to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.
