New Info In Death Investigation Has Former Bellevue Officer Back In Jail

54-year old Craig Wiech, who resigned from the Bellevue force last year, is back in Douglas County Corrections booked on suspicion of tampering with evidence connected to the case of his girlfriend’s death two years ago at the home they shared near 190th and L Streets.

6 News reports court documents show investigators believe Wiech moved the body of 48-year-old Carrie Brown, a Bellevue Police evidence technician, and that clothes he had worn that day were wet and in the washing machine.

The victim’s blood was also found smeared around the house after her death, but not on the suspect or his clothing, according to the documents.

Wiech has been out on bond awaiting trial in connection with charges from the same case.

Initially, he was accused of taking swings at an officer and firefighter the night of Carrie Brown’s death in August 2018.

He told police she shot herself in the bedroom.
