Closures and restrictions expected near Lewis and Clark Landing

A number of temporary road closures and restrictions are coming to the downtown area.

The first begins Tuesday, September 8th and includes the partial restriction of Farnam Street between 11th and 12th Streets. Farnam Street will be restricted to one lane and the north sidewalk will be closed. The restrictions should last about two weeks.

On Monday, September 21st, The RiverFront construction team will close the Lewis & Clark Landing for the third and final phase of park renovations. This closure will include part of Riverfront Drive between the CHI Health Center Omaha Lot A entrance (east of 8th Street along Dodge) and the National Park Service Midwest Regional Headquarters.

The Martin Luther King Jr. walking bridge and Bob Kerrey pedestrian bridge will remain open during construction, but the parking lots within Lewis & Clark Landing will be closed.

Public parking for bridge access includes downtown Omaha near the CHI Health Center plaza entrance (off of Capitol Avenue – which links up with the Martin Luther King Jr. bridge) or on the Council Bluffs side of the Missouri River near Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park. The NPS Headquarters, Riverfront Place condominium complex and Gallup will all still be accessible from Abbott Drive.
