Dog put down after attacking one year old baby Thursday night

A one year old baby is in the hospital after being attacked by a family dog Thursday night.

In a Friday media release, the Nebraska Humane Society said that they were called to a home near 60th and Arbor just before 7:45 Thursday night for a reported dog attack. NHS says the family's Doberman Pinscher attacked the baby while she was on the living room floor near the dog. The baby reportedly was being watched by a family member when the attack occurred. The Humane Society says two other Doberman Pinchers were in the home at the time, but were not involved in the attack.

The baby suffered multiple cuts and fractures to her head and face. Friday morning, NHS said they don't currently know the child's condition.

The Humane Society says the dog was surrendered and euthanized for Rabies testing. They say test results are expected Friday afternoon. NHS says the dog owner was cited for no proof of a pet license and no proof of Rabies vaccination for all three dogs, with an additional violation for harboring a dangerous animal for the attacking dog.
