Nebraska Ends Speculation About Playing Games Outside Conference

There will officially be no football at the University of Nebraska this fall. UNL's chancellor and president issued a joint statement this morning reaffirming the school's commitment to the Big Ten Conference following the decision to postpone the 2020 season.

Earlier this week Nebraska had talked about scheduling its own games outside the conference this fall.

“The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a fully committed member of the Big Ten Conference. It is an unparalleled athletic and academic alliance," the statement from Ronnie Green and Ted Carter read.

"We have the greatest fans in college athletics. This has been a difficult and disappointing week for the Husker family. We all look forward to the day when we can cheer on our student-athletes, on the field and in the arena.”

Earlier this week the school had talked about wanting to play its own games this fall outside the conference if the Big Ten decided not to move forward with the season.
