OPPD Crews Continue Efforts To Restore Power

OPPD crews are continuing their efforts to restore power to customers who have been in the dark since Monday's windstorm.

At its peak, 57-thousand customers had power knocked out in the Monday morning. "And that actually ranked as #7 in terms of our storms with the greatest number of outages," OPPD's Jodi Baker tells KFAB Radio News.

"We're really looking at the more older, mature areas of Omaha. Those of the areas we're going to see more of the problem," Baker says.

She says with the heavy tree canopy in those areas, crews have to cut through limbs to get to the downed wires.

According to Omaha Public Power District less than 3,000 customers were still without power around 10:00 Tuesday morning.
