The Covid-19 coronavirus hits Douglas County Corrections and the Engineer's office.
The latest numbers released by corrections show nearly 100 people have been infected since the pandemic began.
"They're scared to death," Attorney James Martin Davis tells 6 News.
Davis represents ten clients inside the facility.
"They've got to get that COVID virus under control in the jail; I mean that's a major health hazard," Davis says.
The corrections department reports 46 employees, two contractors, and 59 inmates tested positive for the virus.
Deputy Corrections Director Amber Redmond says, “We’ve encouraged our staff to maintain distance as much as possible and we are just today submitting some information for the population educating them on the importance of social distancing and good hand hygiene."
Redmond says staff and inmates are wearing masks.
“We’ve increased the amount of personal protective equipment required, and we’ve often taken measures to restrict the movement of incarcerated individuals.”
The County also reports four highway department employees have tested positive and 23 more workers are being quarantined as a precaution.
The engineer's office says they are following health guidelines and mandates as well as the advice of the county human resources department.
