Douglas and Sarpy counties sending out early voting ballot applications

Douglas and Sarpy county voters should see early voting ballot applications in their mailboxes soon.

On Thursday, the Douglas County Election Commission announced that they have begun sending out the early voting ballot applications. Meanwhile, The Sarpy County Election Commission will begin mailing early voting ballot applications to all eligible registered voters the week of August 3rd.

Both county Election Commissions say polling places will still be open on November 3rd for those who wish to vote in-person, but the mail in ballot will be available who wish to vote from home.

In Douglas County, the postcard-size mail pieces are printed on green cardstock. For Sarpy County voters, their early voting ballot applications will be printed on salmon colored cardstock. Voters must complete and sign the application and return it to their respective Election Commission office in order to get a mail- in ballot. Ballots will not be automatically sent to voters who receive the postcard mailing or who requested a by-mail ballot for the Primary Election.

Applications may be returned in both counties via official ballot drop box, mail, email or fax. The deadline to submit a request for an early voting ballot to be mailed is Friday, October 23rd at 6:00 p.m. The first day ballots will be mailed is Monday, September 28th.
