Omaha City Council Approves Purchase Of Police Night Vision Equipment

The Omaha Police Department is getting a some new equipment to fight crime.

The City Council on Tuesday voted to approve the police department's request to purchase new night vision equipment.

"The most typical use of this equipment is search and rescue, to help find people that are lost or help find people we are looking for," Police Captain Mark Desler told the City Council.

The new equipment will cost nearly $26-thousand-dollars and will be paid for through a 2018 Nebraska Emergency Management Agency homeland security grant.
