Nebraska prison staffer treated for injuries after inmate bites him

A prison staffer had to seek medical treatment after being bitten by an inmate.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says an inmate at the Lincoln Correctional Center assaulted a staff member on Tuesday.

NDCS says upon returning to the facility from an outside medical appointment, the inmate refused to undergo a strip search – a standard procedure. Prison officials say as staff members attempted to place the inmate in restraints, he began kicking at them. The inmate then bit into the arm of one staff member, drawing blood. The injured staff member underwent treatment at a medical clinic for his injury. Other staff members on the scene assisted in gaining control of the inmate.
