The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a Heat Advisory for today into this evening for Southeast, East Central and Northeast Nebraska and Southwest and West Central Iowa.
Heat Index values from 103 to 109 are expected.
Residents are urged to try and stay out of the sun in the afternoon and stay in a cool place as much as possible, while checking on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly.
Drink plenty of fluids;
Young children and pets should never be left in a vehicle under any circumstances.
