Inmate missing from Lincoln community correctional facility

A Nebraska prison inmate is missing from a Lincoln facility.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says 43 year old Scott Underwood walked away from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln around 6:30 Thursday night. NDCS says a facility staff member reported spotting Underwood at South Coddington and West Van Dorn Street. According to a media release, additional staff members searched the area but were not able to find him.

Underwood is about a year into a 48 month sentence for DUI, assault and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest. He has a parole eligibility date of October 8, 2020 and a tentative release date of November 7, 2020.

Underwood is described as a white man, 5’10”, 170 lbs., with blonde hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to contact local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.

CCC-L is one of two community custody facilities operated by NDCS. Community custody is the lowest custody level and the least restrictive facility. Inmates are permitted to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.
