Semi hauling fireworks catches fire and explodes in crash that injured 3

Three people were injured in a weekend crash that led to a semi trailer full of fireworks to catch fire and explode.

The Nebraska State Patrol say the crash happened Saturday morning just south of Uehling.

The NSP says around 11:00 Saturday morning, they received a report of a crash involving a semi and an SUV at the intersection of Highway 77 and Road F in Dodge County. Investigators say when troopers arrived on scene, the semi, which was hauling fireworks, was fully engulfed in flames with fireworks inside the trailer actively exploding.

The State Patrol says witnesses were able to pull all three of the people involved in the crash out of their vehicles. They say both people in the SUV, a Toyota Highlander, were taken to a hospital in Fremont for treatment. The driver of the SUV was then flown to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha for additional treatment. The driver of the semi was treated on scene.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
