A southwest Omaha home was severely damaged by fire Sunday night and a firefighter ended up in the hospital with what investigators say is a heat related injury.
The fire broke out just before 7:00 p.m. near 198th and K Street. Fire crews encountered smoke and flames as they pulled up and found the garage completely engulfed in flames. The intense flames spread to a neighboring house, but firefighters were able to quickly contain it.
6 News reports five family members were over for a Father's Day fish fry and were cooking in the garage. After going inside to eat a neighbor called them and said their garage was engulfed in flames.
One resident suffered a minor injury. Damage is estimated at $150,000
