Search for missing 8 year old to continue Wednesday morning

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office says yet another day of searching for a missing eight year old girl has come up empty.

Tuesday evening, the Sheriff'f Office released a statement saying the recovery efforts to locate Tarie Price in the Platte River were suspended today at 5:00 P.M. SCSO says the Platte River was searched from Schramm State Park to the mouth of the Missouri River with no sign of the girl.

Price went missing in the river near Schramm park Thursday afternoon.

Tuesday's water search was conducted by Iowa DOT, Council Bluffs Fire Department, Nebraska Game and Parks and the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office. Two sonars were used in the water search.

The ground search was conducted by Cass County, NE Emergency Management and Sarpy County Sheriff personnel assisted by 2 cadaver K-9’s. The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office says they are "Grateful for everyone’s assistance."

The Sheriff's Office says the search will continue at 8:00 Wednesday morning. They say they are only seeking volunteers with "specialized equipment (sonar, air boats and cadaver K-9’s) and will be selected to assist on a case by case basis by the Sarpy County Search and Rescue Commander."

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone who was at the scene at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the incident or has pertinent information to speak with them. The Sheriff's Office is also seeking the owner of a black dog that Tarie and four other children were playing with in the river around the time of the incident. If the owner, or anyone who knows the owner of that dog could also contact the hot line.
